Abstract

This paper analyzes urban chronicles published by journalist and writer Roque Callage in the newspaper "Diário de Notícias", in Porto Alegre, between 1925 and 1930, aiming to identify two approaches to the daily life of the city: the pedagogical diffusion of "civilized" behavior and the rupture of social norms by describing criminal manifestations.
