Documentation and Forms

At least 3 files must be transferred for article submission and made available to the publisher: a cover page, the Research Ethics Committee approval document and the main document. Below are the instructions for their preparation and formatting.

Click here to download the cover page template. Complete as instructed and upload the document upon submission as a supplementary document.

The cover page must have the following information:

  • 1. Full name of each author
  • 2. Identification of the contribution of each author to the study, which will be informed in the published article.
  • 3. Conflicts of Interest Statement by each author.
  • 4. ORCID information of each author. Authors who do not have an ORCID should register at orcid.org/signin.

Data collection must have been completed no more than two (2) years from the beginning of the current year, and literature research should be updated by the semester preceding the date of submission.

Please note: completing the cover page does not exempt the submitting author from filling in the complete metadata on the website, and it is very important to provide the full names of all authors and their VALID emails in the metadata.

The cover page should be separate from the main document and will not be made available to reviewers, as Scientia Medica uses the double-blind peer review system:

The original articles and case reports must necessarily have followed the ethical principles of human research (conselho.saude.gov.br/resolucoes/2012/Reso466.pdf) and have passed the approval of a Research Ethics Committee, and this fact should be clearly stated in the description of the methodology. It is not sufficient to inform the CAAE number.

If relevant, inform that free and informed consent has been obtained from all adult participants or, in the case of minors or the disabled, from their legal representatives.

In case of an experimental animal study, inform that the keeping and care of animals follow the institution or country guidelines for the use of animals in research.

Descriptors are terms used in article indexing so that it can be found by subject by electronic search engines. Correctly filling in the descriptors is essential for their publication to be easily found by other researchers. Scientia Medica uses as key words the Health Science Descriptors (DeCs) available from BIREME / PAHO / WHO at decs.bvs.br where the terms in both Portuguese and English are found, which should also be placed in the original.

Text

It should be divided into subtitles according to the type of article (according to the table below). In the Original Articles, Scientia Medica does not accept that the results and discussion are combined in the same subtitle. Conclusions should not constitute a separate item, but should be placed as the last paragraph of the Discussion. In Review Articles, Conclusions may be the last subtitle, which may alternatively be called Discussion or Final Considerations. Subtitles should not be numbered in any of the article types.
