Author Guidelines

As part of the submission process, authors must verify the compliance of the submission in relation to adherence to the journal focus, scope and session policies, in addition to regard all the items listed in the Authors Guidelines. Submissions that do not comply with the rules will be returned to the authors. Before submitting the manuscript, authors must ensure that they regard the following criteria:

Conditions for Submission

  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not being evaluated for publication by another journal; otherwise, it must be justified in "Comments to the editor".
  • Texts must be sent in digital format, preferably in MS-Word (.doc and .docx).
  • All URLs to references are informed and lead to the referred work.
  • It is desirable and recommended in scientific publications that the bibliographic references be updated according to the advances produced in each thematic area and research object. We encourage the authors to keep the bibliographic review of their field of study up to date and remember that this is an important criterion regarding the timeliness of the published contribution, including the appraisal of evaluators and specialists dealing with the same field of studies and research. Indexes of scientific publications and similar catalogs usually recommend prioritizing bibliographic references and citations with less than five years of publication in the evaluations of journals.
  • We consider the dialogue between peers essential, so we strongly encourage authors to reference, question, criticize or seek support in articles, special articles, reviews, interviews or translations, published in previous editions of Educação por Escrito.
  • With the exception of the Identification sheet, all submitted files do not contain any authors’ identity information or indication, and any information regarding authorship is removed from the document properties.
  • The text follows the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in Authors Guidelines.
  • When submitting a text, the author concomitantly declares to accept all the terms and conditions of the journal and assigns its copyright to Educação Por Escrito, even acknowledging that it will circulate freely and free of charge, in digital version. The journal is not responsible for opinions, information and / or concepts presented in the texts it publishes; these are the sole responsibility of their authors. Editors reserve the right to make changes in form, in order to guarantee grammatical correctness, clarity and respect for publication standards, respecting the content of the text.
  • As required by CAPES, all authors must inform their ORCID ID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) at the submission time. It is essential that, after registering for ORCID, all authors access their records on the journal’s portal with their login and password data, and insert the information in the specific fields.

Author Guidelines

The electronic journal Educação Por Escrito receives original and unpublished scientific contributions, preferably based on research papers, in the form of articles, special articles (by authors provided for the composition of extraordinary volumes and / or thematic dossiers) book reviews, translations and interviews. Collaborations must regard the academic publication criteria.

1. Definitions

According to the journal's section policies, for publication purposes the following are considered:

  • Article: contribution in the form of unpublished text that reports a new research or introduces an original and relevant theoretical discussion. Can be signed by more than one author.
  • Special article: contribution in the form of unpublished text that reports a new research or introduces an original and relevant theoretical discussion, within a highlighted thematic set, the subject of a special volume or dossier. It can be signed by more than one author.

This is done at the editor initiative when deemed convenient, via public calls, or by receiving proposals, due to the type of content associated with an event or other non-routine situation that interferes with the publication's agenda. The contributions receipt for the composition of an extraordinary volume is specified at each occurrence. The extraordinary volume may count on the collaboration of special editors related to the theme, and the texts that compose it will be submitted to the criteria and publication rules, as well as to all the evaluation procedures applied to any articles sent to the journal - except in cases from specifically invited authors. The latter will be evaluated jointly by the editor, the Editorial Board and the special editors, if any.
    • Dossier: the journal eventually publishes thematic dossiers, numbered independently of the journal's regular numbering. This is done at the editor initiative when deemed convenient, via public calls, or by receiving proposals. Dossier proposals are received in a continuous flow, by e-mail sent to the magazine, and evaluated by the editor and the Editorial Board. A dossier is a set of articles on the same topic presented together for evaluation and publication in the same edition. Once the proposed dossier is approved, the call for papers responsibility rests with the organizer. However, all texts - except for the dossier presentation, analyzed by the editor - will be submitted to the criteria and publication rules, as well as to all the evaluation procedures applied to any articles sent to the journal.
