About the Journal

Brief history of the magazine

Letrônica magazine was created in 2008 by the then PPGL / PUCRS coordinator, Ana Maria Lisboa de Mello, with the support of doctoral students who acted as junior editors. In principle, the publication aimed to create a space for the dissemination of the master's and doctoral students works of the Program. The name Letrônica (“Letras” + “electronics”), chosen by the students, came at a time when the online publication of academic journals was not yet a requirement. In order to qualify the production of the Program and stimulate the publication of graduate students in journals of other institutions, the magazine, in the following years, underwent a constant updating process. In 2012 the teachers of Maria da Glória di Fanti, from the Linguistics area, and Biagio d'Angelo, from the Literature area, took over the Letrônica publishing house. At this time, the objectives are changed, and the magazine encourages the publication of researchers from different regions of Brazil and abroad. In the first CAPES evaluation, still in 2012, Letrônica was evaluated with Qualis B2. Maintaining the quality already achieved and always seeking a better adaptation to the requirements of the Brazilian and international academic scenario, both the editorial board and the publication norms were revised. In a new Capes evaluation (2013-2014), it achieved Qualis B1.In 2014, assumed the editor of the area of Literature Professor Pedro Theobald. In a constant search for the improvement of the journal, in 2018, due to Scielo's requirements and with the support of EDIPUCRS, the magazine started to have quarterly periodicity, being published two thematic issues of each major area: Linguistics and Literature.

Focus and Scope

The journal publishes four thematic issues per year, two for Linguistics and two for Literature. Receives unpublished articles from researchers linked to graduate programs. In the four issues, there is also room for the publication of interviews with researchers and reviews of academic books (not literary works) published in the last two years. The thematic numbers, whose full call is published on the journal's website, are organized by one or more researchers specializing in the theme of the call and by a doctoral student (s) from PPGL / PUCRS. All calls are opened, and jobs are peer reviewed.

Peer Review Process

Submitted texts undergo an initial formal evaluation performed by the editorial team, which may request corrections and additions. Texts that do not fit the scope of the journal, that do not meet mandatory requirements or that are not adequate within the deadline will be archived.Once the admissibility of the submission has been verified, two opinions are requested from researchers specialized in the subject, which will serve as subsidy to the editors, remaining with them the final decision. Publication of papers is subject to compliance with its recommendations. In the evaluation are taken into account the originality of the treatment of the theme, the consistency and rigor of the approach, as well as its contribution and suitability to the theme of calling the number to which the article is intended. The review system is double-blind: the names of the reviewers will remain confidential and the names of the authors before the reviewers will also be omitted.Evaluators are expected to be objective in their assessment. If there is any conflict of interest or difficulty in making a judgment without significant influence from external factors, they should contact the editors. The text and other information provided in the evaluation process should be treated confidentially and may not be used for any other purpose.
