Esse artigo aborda a identificação e o desenvolvimento de talentos, e a possibilidade de transformação de identidade. Por meio de um estudo de caso, descreve-mos a trajetória de uma artista plástica talentosa e reconhecida pela comunidade, que foi vítima de poliomielite na infância e vive há 29 anos confinada a um leito de hospital. A apropriação e o desenvolvimento de habilidades são analisados a partir de depoimento obtido através de entrevistas, e de referencial teórico sobre identidade e metamorfose, o papel da arte na constituição da subjetividade e a atualização de potenciais.Descritores – Altas habilidades/superdotação; transformações da identidade; criativi-dade.
ABSTRACT – This paper discusses talent identification and development and the possi-bility of identity changes. In this case study, we describe the path of a talented artist recognized by the community, who was victimized by poliomyelitis in her childhood and has lived in a hospital bed for 29 years. Appropriation and development of abilities are analyzed based upon interview statements and the theoretical rationale on identity and metamorphosis, the role of Art in subjectivity building and potential updating.
