Abstract

This essay takes up current issues facing the Roman Catholic Church in Brazil and the Russsian Orthodox Church in the post-soviet republic, the Russian Federation. Issues and institutions are treated comparatively, even if selectively and almost solely out of a concern by the Author for contemporary "transnational" religions.
