Abstract

The paper aims to characterize the different ways of celebrating Carnival as practiced by the elite of the city of Pelotas in the 1910s. It seeks to develop an inventory of practices in comparison to the ones viewed in other cities, specially Rio de Janeiro, as well as to other historical and sociological analysis.
