Usurpation, tyranny and domination of Hispania Visigoth from the late VII century: the case of Wamba's reign (672-680)

Abstract

From the several examples of tyranic actions presented by the hispano-visigothic sources in the seventh century, we draw attention to the ones which ocurred in the region of Wamba. The first, promoted by the nobility of the Pronuncia Narbonense, ended with the victory of the sovereign against the usurper Dux Paulo. But the second, generated within the heart of the court royal to the dethronement of the principes christianus sacratissimus.
