Abstract

This paper intends to analyze the activity of cemeterial transfer at Porto Alegre, in 1850, contemplating its inscription in a context of religious experience, as lived by the inhabitants of the city at that time. In this regard, the role played by reli­gious brotherhoods in the city is a central notion.
