Abstract

This research analyzes the corpus of an animation of “The Tin Soldier” and aims to (i) elucidate that there is a content-presupposition of “must have a non-deficient body and must have beauty pattern for getting married in fairy tales”, which is included in the content-post “getting married in fairy tales”; and, to the detriment of this, the second objective is (ii) to defend the category of intertextual presupposition, among the range of concepts of Argumentative Semantics; and also (iii) investigate the enunciative phenomenon of argumentative inversion, that is, saying the phenomenon of the tragic as romantic, typical of the enunciation of The Tin Soldier. To this end, our theoretical framework will be Argumentative Semantics, mainly operating the concepts of presupposition, de-realizing modifier and realizing modifier by Oswald Ducrot, with the finesse of a textual, intertextual and imagery conception of these concepts, given that our corpus is an animation. Our central hypothesis coincides with the intertextual presupposition inscribed in this animation: in versions of fairy tales in animations for children, the happy end is an (intertextual) presupposition reserved for privileged bodies, since in the post “happy end” is inscribed the presupposition “have to possess a non-deficient body and with standard beauty” to have the right to “happy end”. Our results impact above all the areas of language and teaching because they constitute a critique of a practice of prescriptive reading/perpetuation of fairy tales, uncritical and empty, which only romanticize and naturalize the tragedy of the eradication of the deficiency and the perpetuation of the happy end as an elite presupposition.
