Abstract

Starting with the analysis of the way in which Erico Verissimo’s work, and mainly the trilogy O Tempo e o Vento (The Time and the Wind) is imbued with the epic spirit, here is intended to draw lines of continuity between modern novel and the epics, out of its theory, and the respective codes become especially evaluated, particularly those regarding the characterization of the hero, the leading figure of new times, in this case, in Santa Fé territories. This paper is concluded with the relations established between him and the involving space, social reality and his heirs, the promise of continuity of the Cambará’s saga.
