The emotional state of Brazilian teachers in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic

Abstract

The study analyzes the emotional state of teachers and the associated factors from a perspective of school reopening (second semester of 2021) in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic in Brazil. A survey prepared by Instituto Península was applied with approximately two thousand Brazilian teachers from public and private schools. The methodology was a factor analysis with the extraction of the main components for the elaboration of the latent variables (1 – Positive feelings; 2 – Exhaustion and 3 – Emotional exhaustion) for the build of teacher profiles. Subsequently, linear regression was used to analyze the associated factors. The results point to the need for pedagogical support for teachers, especially when they feel tired or depressed.
