Hegemony and polarization: a reconfiguration of political forces in the city of Porto Alegre (1988 a 2000)

During the period of little more than a decade in which the PT (Partido dos Tra-balhadores) have been managing the municipality of Porto Alegre we observe a structural and behavioral transformation in the political scenary. The aim of this text is to outline a diagnostic of the evolution of the electoral frame and of the power distribution in Porto Alegre, identifying the crystallization of postures, but above all the vitality of the political dynamic in course in the municipality.
