The informalization of Penal Justice in Brazil

Abstract

Integrating the movement of informalization of the judicial procedures to give bill of the demand for penal control in the contemporary societies, the experience of Criminal Special Courts in Brazil completed six years in 2001, and it allows theaccomplishment of a balance of the progresses and existent difficulties for the access to the justice. Starting from a sociological focus, it is looked for to identify the sense and the contradictions of the informalization of the criminal justice, as well as pointing roads for the construction of a new paradigm of justice in contemporary societies.
