This work is a discussion on public space and models for institutional conflict administration, comparing and contrasting two main models of the Western legal and political tradition: on the one hand, an egalitarian and individualistic, on the other hand, an hierarchical and holistic. After describing these moldels and their institutional conflict administration's processes, the conclusion states that in Brazil both models are simultaneously at work on our legal and judicial systems. Key words: Institutional conflict administration; law Anthropology; comparative method; public space; conflict and democracy.Downloads
