This article recoups historical information about the origin, structures and goals of integration of the Mercosul. It weaves considerations on the difficulties and the advances of the process, as much in respect to the expansion of the block as much to the internal streams of commerce and investments, as well as on its relations with the European Union. It approaches the difficulties results from the intergovernamental character of the block and the decurrent necessity of its biggest institutionalization in some levels. Finally, it comments the possible effect of the crisis unchained in January of 1999, for the depreciation of the exchange in Brazil.Downloads
