Abstract

In this paper, we explore how resonance theory addresses the relationship between the subject and the world, and how it recovers and overcomes aspects of the normative project of a young Marx's discussion of the other side of alienation. Resonance theory offers a multidimensional conception of the relationship between the subject and the world, which can be observed through horizontal, diagonal and vertical axes. This expands the relational possibilities and meaning of the object. We argue that this concept overcomes the unilateral nature of the subject-object paradigm by recovering the multi-relationship found in the idea of sensitive activity in the 1844 Manuscripts. The normative proposal of resonance therefore also seeks to address the contingencies and cultural variations of societies while tackling the issue of normative deficit in recent sociological theories.
