Technologies of non-violence and modernization of justice in Brazil: the case of restorative justice

Abstract

This article investigates, from an anthropological point of view, some aspects of the restorative justice’s implementation in Brazil. Through the anthropological research, it is possible to say that restorative justice articulates an assembly of diverse actors and conjugates ideas of self-management and individual transformation with modernization of justice and promotion of the culture of peace. This paper aims to understand the emergency of this new technology of life management, as well as to discuss some tensions in its dissemination.
