Democracy, participation and deliberation: contributions to the debate about possible transformations in the democratic sphere

The proposal of this article is to discuss the relationship among democracy, participation and deliberation. With this aim the work was divided after the analysis of four matters: democracy and its adjectives; habermasian proposal of discursive deliberation procedures; the contribution of participative democracies for the debate about the democracy theory and, finally, of broadening the concept of democracy.
