Abstract

This study reveals the dynamics of affective-sexual relationship known as “stay with” in its intrinsic association by the contemporary society, that produces individuals deeply marked by the signs of consumption. Does so, exploiting the affinity of this Code of Relationships and the ways of thinking and acting widespread and designed by the culture industry. This concept, were coined by Adorno and Horkheimmer (1985c) in a critique to a individuals impairment in a society marked by consumption and by technique. Utimately helped by Adorno’s analyses of the Ulysse’s Odyssey myth, we unfold the hidden meaning in the existing term “stay with”. With this path we clarify a maintenance of an desert mediated by the culture industry, mainly due to alienation of individuals against himselfs and to others, as a source of affection and support, in a agreement between instinct and the external environment – as pointed out by Freud (1930).
