Media, social transformations and the contributions of the social-cognitive theory

The present text approaches the contributions of the Social-cognitive theory involved in processes of social transformation generated by means of media sources. With this purpose, the article converses with the theme of media as a bridge to build personal references and presents key concepts of the social-cognitive theory involved in experiences using media to face important macrossocial matters, through several countries in the world. The mentioned theoretical concepts are modeling, self-efficacy and human agency. It is informed that, in the presented reports, the Social-cognitive theory was one of the three components articulated by the design of psychosocial programs to several possibilities of intervention. Thoughts about the contribution of this psychological approach are presented, together with the remarking of the challenges to be faced in carrying on with the discussion of this theme.Downloads
