Study of the correlation between apnea, depressive symptoms and daily memory
Abstract
The goal of this study was to verify the correlation between Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS) and depressive symptoms and correlation between OSAS and daily memory. The hypothesis was that would have a positive correlation between OSAS and depressive symptoms and between OSAS and daily memory. The sample was made up of 30 patients (19 male and 11 female) from 29 to 59 years old. These patients were submitted to a polysomnography. Patients who reached the sleepapnea/hypoapnea index (AHI) compatible with the syndrome characterization completed the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and the Questionnaire of Daily Forgets (DFQ). Spearman coefficients between AHI-BDI and betweenAHI-DFQ were calculated. Kruskal-Wallis test was also performed to verify the division of the groups according to the level of OSAS severity. The hypothesis of this study was not confirmed. Statistically significant differences between groups were detected when AHI was evaluated.Downloads
