Expert Panel and Multimethods Strategy: Reflections, Examples and Perspectives
Keywords:
Expert panel, multimethods, exploratory research, person-environment studies, interview.Abstract
The expression experts panel is herein used to identify a research technique employed in psychology, business management and the social sciences in general. We present its traditional utilization in research, and scientific contexts in which it has been used, emphasizing its application in projects adopting the multimethods strategy, whether in simultaneous or sequential approaches. For the sake of clarity, we added two illustrations extracted from our studies in the area of person-environment relationships. The classical meaning of the expression is redefined to the context of this presentation, in the sense that the expert panel is itself presented as a data collection technique, thus ensuring reliability in the representation of the phenomenon under investigation and reduction of methodological bias.
