Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is indicated as a very effective strategy for treating obesity. Individuals who are overweight are at increased risk of developing a number of diseases and medical conditions, and join various interpersonal stressors. This paper aims to report the experience from the CBT intervention group (GCBT) with participants who aimed to weight loss, in a multidisciplinary clinic. Ten groups were conducted with five participants each, totaling 50 participants. Each group lasted three months, with a total of twelve meetings, six of which were reserved for psychological intervention. Considering the set of qualitative data suggests that there was a clinically significant improvement with regard to interpersonal difficulties, the degree of social adaptation, self-esteem, levels of anxiety, feeling of well-being of participants and the reduction of binge eating, as well as objective reduction in weight.Downloads
