Process of Differentiation of Couples from Their Families of Origin
Keywords:
Individuality, marriage, family relations.Abstract
This paper aims to describe the process of differentiation of the couple from their families of origin. Through accessibility, four couples without children were contacted to answer a semistructured interview. Data were analyzed according to content analysis. Three categories: Family of origin, Differentiation and Marriage emerged. The couples, especially women, feel closer to their families, even when physically distant. Although the families suffer at first they tend to support the independence of the children. The spouses have a good experience in their marriages, and their marriage contracts are made through dialogue. Eventhough they understand what differentiation means, they have difficulty in the process.Downloads
