Abstract

The literature has shown special interest in individual values research, reinforced by the breadth of publications justified by its relevance in predicting behavior. The scale of values PQV (Portrait Value Questionnaire) assess the individual value system based on the Schwartz’s model of human values. This article aims to validate the reduced version of 21 items of PQV. Thus, a sample of 554 Brazilian workers from private companies answered the questionnaire. Results of the Multidimensional Staggering (MDS) with the method of Guttman´s staggering coefficient of alienation indicated the adequacy of the theoretical framework for interpretation of the correlation between the items. It is concluded that the short version is an alternative to the original instrument as it retains its structure and requires less application time.
