Abstract

Considering the failure in maintaining weight loss diets whose influence of various psychological factors is one of the etiologic factors, as reported in the literature, this study through structured questionnaire and application of Beck Inventories for anxiety and depression, examined which factors interfere in the effectiveness of the treatment of obesity. 39 patients participated, being the public majority female, 84.6% (36). Correlating body mass index (BMI), we met at the intersection with waist circumference (WC) (and) a strong positive correlation (r=830, p<0.001) and significant and moderate in percentage (%) from fat (r=0,408, p=0.010). It was observed in correlation with the Depression Inventory of 60% (p=0.004), 73.3% (p=0.022) and 93.3% (p=0.115) of the patients show low self-esteem, depressive mood of crisis and anxiety, respectively. It is expected in connection with the psychological aspects to help the professionals to intervene more successfully about the adhesion therapy.
