Coping and life satisfaction in adults with AIDS

Abstract

The aim of this study was to identify the coping strategies and the life satisfaction in people with Aids and to verify the correlation between coping strategies and satisfaction with the life. Participants 22 adults, mean age 37 years. The Results indicated, regarding the life satisfaction, 42.9% told that they are satisfied with their own lives in the moment and 42.9% are more or less satisfied. The majority (90.4%) told to have positive expectation with future life. The coping strategies most used were the religious practices and imaginative thoughts (mean 4.09), following by problem focused coping strategies (mean 3.71), looking for social support (mean 2.93), and emotional focused coping strategies (mean 2.36).
