Abstract

This article presents a review of the literature on the neuropsychological assessment of executive functions associated with Parkinson’s disease, based on research published in the period 2000 to 2011. A survey covering national and international publications indexed in Medline, SciELO, PsycInfo and ISI, resulted in 20 studies that had in title any of the following descriptors: “funções executivas”, “síndrome disexecutiva”, “executive functions” and “dysexecutive syndrome”. The results indicated an increase of scientific publications on the subject in recent years, the main instruments used for the evaluation of patients with PD and cognitive functions compromised as a result of changes in executive functioning. We observed the presence of a few national studies, indicating the need for research in this area.
