O artigo pretende relacionar o problema do aumento da violência motivada pelo ódio com o debate sobre direitos humanos e sociais. Iniciaremos apresentando rapidamente o debate sobre direitos humanos, parte do processo histórico de conquistas de direitos civis e sociais. Seguiremos então com a discussão sobre crimes de ódio na Europa Ocidental.
