The language in Descartes

This article aims to present the Cartesian conception of language from excerpts of letters collected and greatest work of René Descartes. The exposition was divided into three parts: (i) first a brief general presentation on the theme of language in Cartesian philosophy, followed by (ii) an analysis of excerpts by the author divided into four subtopics in view of the corporeal and incorporeal character of language, the nature of animals and the argument of language, and the quarrel of universal grammar; ending with a (iii) completion segment that brings together the main points addressed.
