Resumen

This text focuses on the construction of the Brazilian urban landscape during the Baroque period in Minas Gerais, taking as an example the church of St. Francis in Vila Rica (Ouro Preto). It seeks to show how both profane and Christian mythologies flourished in the wild and isolated mountains and contributed to the construction of a very singular urban and architectural environment.
