Entendendo o sentido dos protestos na Turquia (e no Brasil): a contestação do urbanismo neoliberal nas “Cidades Rebeldes”

O artigo está organizado em cinco partes: primeiro, oferecemos um breve resumo dos protestos e o conceito de “direito à cidade”; segundo, discutimos argumentos sobre o papel da democracia e representação, e estilo de liderança autoritário do Primeiro-Ministro da Turquia Recep Tayyip Erdogan em relação à causa dos protestos; terceiro, apresentamos nosso caso ao comparar os protestos com aqueles ocorridos em economias emergentes semelhantes, como o Brasil. Ou seja, em vez das manifestações que ocorreram em países que experimentam uma curva de declínio económico; quarto,exploramos o papel dos jovens nos protestos; e, finalmente, olhamos para onde o movimento está agora.
