Abstract

We reflect on the boundaries of social relations, verifying how the poetic discourse internalizes moral conventions and fixed identities to propose the "other" as radically different. We study the representation of women in the poetry of Manoel de Barros, including the grandmother, the mother, the peasant women and prostitutes. We verify how women are characterized and what poetic function they play in the poetic universe of Barros.
