Abstract

As all celebratory event of our peripheral country, the 100th anniversary has built itself around the demonstration of material and intellectual power in order to turn Argentina into one of the most developed countries of the West. The 100th anniversary became visible in the graphical industry, by means of printing a series of albums, huge catalogs that summarized the propaganda-focused endeavor highlighting the richness of the country. In these albums, photography held a central role in view of the exhibition and creation of an Argentinian image and nationalism. In this sense, we will analyze the discourse built through images of the city and/or the state of Cordoba, which although used as mere illustrations, they were also used to complement the discourse of editors, photographers, and professionals of the place studied herein. Our focus will allow us to consider the means of production and publishing at the time, aiming to answer whether the publishing of the albums demanded a specific photographic process.
