Author Biographies

Odilon Caldeira Neto, Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora.

Adjunct Professor of Contemporary History in the Department of History at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) and Permanent Professor in the Postgraduate Program in History (PPGH-UFJF). He has a PhD in History from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), with a research internship at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon (ICS-Ulisboa). He was a postdoctoral researcher at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) and at the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM). His research focuses on fascism, neofascism, radical right-wing populism and political extremism. He is the author of “Under the Sign of Sigma: integralism, neointegralism and antisemitism” (Eduem, 2014) and co-author of “Fascism in Brazil: from Integralism to Bolsonarism” (Routledge, 2022).

Steven Forti, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona

Steven Forti is a contract professor at the Department of Modern and Contemporary History at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). After obtaining a PhD in History from UAB and Università di Bologna (2011), he also became a post-doctoral researcher at the Institute of Contemporary History at Universidade Nova de Lisboa (2014-2022). His research focuses on fascism, populism, nationalism and the extreme right in contemporary times, with special attention to comparative and transnational history. He is the author of “Extrema derecha 2.0. Qué es y cómo combatirla” (Spain, Editora Siglo XXI, 2021) and co-author of “Patriotas indignados. About the new ultraderecha in the Postguerra Fría. Neofascism, postfascism and nazbols” (Alianza, 2019). Currently it is the local principal investigator (PI) of the Horizon Europe Analysis of and Response to Extremist Narratives” (ARENAS) research project (HEU-101094731) (2023-2027)”.
