Abstract

This essay, a condensation of chapters 4 and 6 of my PhD Dissertation, on the role of the women in the reconstruction of the Paraguayan national identity during the Triple Alliance postwar period, intends to shortly present some of the resistance mechanisms to the Paraguayan government prescriptions and prohibitions towards the participation of women in public life, in special at public balls and parties.
