Portuguese immigration, politics and everyday life in Rio de Janeiro in the early XIX century

The Portuguese presence spread deep roots within the evolution and the history of the city of Rio Grande. It was a fundamental framework to the shape of the society in this city. In the end of the XIXth century and begin-ning of the XXth, the Portuguese colony intended to remark its identity, including by means of Press, which show some fragments of the daily life and of the social, economical and political-ideological relations of these people. The study on these fragments is the objective of this research.
