The possibility of same-sex unions and adoption by homosexual couples

This present work reveals a study on the Brazilian doctrine and jurisprudence and its regulation on new family entities, also known as “new families”. For such explanation, a short historical retrospect in order to understand how the matter of family was treated in the legislation prior to the 1988 Federal Constitution, the 2002 Civil Code and complementary legislation. A glimpse on the basic principles of the 1988 Federal Constitution related to the individual, as a subject of Law, is taken. The main point of this dissertation goes specifically about same-sex unions and its juridical recognition, as well as the possibility of adoption by those people who, bonded by affection, search to consolidate a family core.Downloads
