Abstract

In order to verify the contamination by Ancylostoma spp. Toxocara spp. of parks and public squares of the cities of Itaqui and Uruguaiana, were collected fecal samples from dogs, not parched, dispersed in the environment, totaling 72 fecal samples, with 6 samples from each place and 12 places of each city. The samples were packaged in plastic bags, identified with the name of the place and date, and sent in thermal box with 4 degrees Celsius to the Laboratory of Parasitic Diseases Parasitology of the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul, where they were analyzed by the method of Willis - Mollay (1921), being used solution saturated with sodium chloride. Of the total samples 44.45% were contaminated by Ancylostoma spp. and none of them showed contamination by Toxocara spp. Keywords: Helminths; contamination; Fecais samples; Public squares.
