Abstract

If translators do not pay close attention, they may be trapped by some linguistic tricks. Besides having knowledge about the general rules of the languages involved in the translation process, translators should be able to recognize the preferential uses of grammatical forms in each language considered. This article addresses the question of the predominant use of verbal voices in English and Spanish based civil aviation documents in order to make Brazilian translators aware of this important linguistic item, as well as to assist those who deal with a variety of texts in daily activities.
