Abstract

This paper proposes a reflection on the issues that permeated the Brazilian commercial

aviation after 1986. This brief review will try to address the factors involved in aviation, using it to the

case of Varig, and the changes that its bankruptcy has brought to Brazilian aviation. We will discuss

some of the key factors that led to the company's collapse, both domestically, and in foreign conjecture.

We will also try to address the importance of safety to Brazilian aviation, learning from mistakes and

successes that these traditional Brazilian airlines have left us, especially Varig.
