The devotion to the Holy Spirit in Portuguese-Azorean culture
Abstract: The human being is essentially cultural, and culture has symbolic assumptions that allow a society to move. Religion is one of the most important spaces within the culture. In Rio Grande do Sul, the Portuguese-Azorean culture was formed with the strong presence of the Azorean, who arrived in the mid-eighteenth century. The Portuguese-Azorean culture, in its devotional practices, is known by an intense devotion to the Holy Spirit, which is manifested through the Brotherhoods of the Holy Spirit, by means of the flags of the Divine, the dove of the Holy Spirit and the Divine parties, by which the Portuguese-Azorean people manifest their faith and their relationship with the sacred.
