Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The text follows the journal's formatting requirements according to the "Guidelines for Authors"found in the "Submissions" section.
- It is mandatory to fill in the Article Cover strong>, with the article information. This document must be forwarded separately at the time of submission.
Dossiê
In the Dossier session, articles with thematic similarity, as determined by the editors, are accepted. The dossiers are not issued periodically.
Characteristics of the Section:
- Texts submitted must approach topics according to the chosen theme.

Articles
In the Articles session, unpublished articles on Brazilian Literature, Portuguese Literature and African Literatures in Portuguese are accepted. Articles that establish comparisons or approximations between the literature and cultures of these areas can also be included.
Characteristics of the Section:
- Articles in Portuguese, English and Spanish are accepted.
- Texts with a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 20 pages are accepted.
- The texts must be formatted in Times New Roman or Arial, size 12, 1.5 spacing (except for citations with more than four lines). The authors should follow the standards set by ABNT.
- Authors must have Orcid registration.
- Articles made by researchers with a Ph.D. degree, Ph.D. students, Master’s degree, and researchers with Master’s degrees in process are accepted. Articles made by undergraduate students will only be accepted in co-authorship with professors with a Ph.D. degree. Only researchers who have significantly contributed to the elaboration of the article/interview/review should be mentioned as authors of the text.
- The text must necessarily contain title, abstract, and keywords in the languages indicated by the journal: Portuguese, English, and Spanish.
- If the text is not originally in Portuguese, it should contain abstract and keywords in Portuguese, and in the other interface languages of the journal.
- The contribution must be original and unpublished. It must not be sent for evaluation in other journals.
- The file submitted for evaluation must not contain indications of authorship. The identification will be added after the article’s acceptance.
- The publication of works is conditioned to blind review approval by ad hoc peers. The text is only approved for publication if it obtains two favorable opinions. Articles with approval subjected to corrections must be revised by the author before publication.
- The spontaneous submission of articles and their subsequent acceptance for publication automatically implies the granting of first publication rights to the Journal. The intellectual copyrights remain with the author. Eventual later reproduction, by any means, may only be made upon prior understanding between the Journal and the author and with the appropriate citation of the source.
- Once approved, the text will integrate one of the upcoming numbers of the journal, but not necessarily the following number. In the case of articles resulting of research conducted with public or private funding, the authors must provide all information about the financial support received in the text.
- The authors should keep their profile information updated, and especially their contact email. All communication with the editorial team occurs through this registered email.
- Illustrations and tables must have their place indicated in the body of the text and be sent as a separate file. Software and version identification also must be included.
- The views and concepts expressed in the papers are of the sole responsibility of the authors, and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the Editorial Board and the Editorial Committee. All authors are required to provide retractions or corrections if any problems, errors, or inaccuracies are detected in their text.
Reviews
In the Review session, texts with a focus on literary and theoretical works or on other artistic production in Brazil, Portugal or in Portuguese speaking African countries are accepted.
Characteristics of the Section:
- Interviews with a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 pages are accepted.
- The interview must have been conducted no more than one year prior to submission.
- Interviews in Portuguese, English and Spanish are accepted.
- Authors must have Orcid registration.
Interview
The Interview section includes interviews with representative personalities from literature and culture from Brazil, Portugal and the Portuguese-speaking African countries.
- Interviews with a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 pages are accepted.
- The interview must have been conducted no more than one year prior to submission.
- Interviews in Portuguese, English and Spanish are accepted..
- Authors must have Orcid registration.

The submission of originals to Navegações implies the transfer by the authors of the right for publication. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication. If the authors wish to include the same data into another publication, they must cite Navegações as the site of original publication.
