PHILOSOPHY AND LITERATURE IN DIALOGUE: BENEDITO NUNES’ CRITICISM AND GADAMER’S HERMENEUTICS
Abstract
This paper aims to understand the literary criticism of the important Brazilian philosopher Benedito Nunes, by comparing it with Gadamer’s hermeneutics. The first part is about the relation between the literary criticism and the philosophy in his work, considering the particularity of his philosophical interpretation of literature. It doesn’t proceed by the mechanic identification of the thought that inspires certain literary work, but by the philosophical recognition of the poetic dimension of the language, as revealer of the world. The second part is dedicated to the development of certain central concepts of Gadamer’ hermeneutics, as play, dialogue, linguisticity, and truth event, related to the philosophical interpretation of the artistic work.Downloads
