HEMPEL’S DILEMMA AND THE INFINITELY DECOMPOSABLE WORLD
Abstract
In this paper we try to accommodate the physicalist thesis with the notion of an infinitely decomposable world without falling into the Hempel’s Dilemma. First we examine the ontology of physical properties. Then we present the Hempel’s dilemma. Finally we present Montero’s 2006 paper as a possible solution to the problem, but we argue that her physicalism is better characterized as a kind of determinism of the non-mental (Levine 2001).Downloads
