The transcendentality question about puchrum notion in Thomas Aquinas’ philosophy
Abstract
Nowadays, one of the most discussed subjects of Thomas Aquinas’ philosophy is about pulchrum. There is a strong tendency in taking it as a transcendental. Jan Aertsen demonstrates in his book Medieval Philosophy and the transcedentals that pulchrum can not be a transcendental if “transcendental” is taken in the same sense as Aquinas uses it. In this paper, we aim to present Aertsen’s hypothesis concerning the non-transcendental aspect of pulchrum. Key words: Transcendentals. Metaphysics. Thomas Aquinas.Downloads
