Abstract

The academic prestige acquired by bioethics in this last half century is an outgrowth of the strengthening of the spaces in which social liberties are lived and created in representative democracies. It is valuable to remember that liberty was created within the field of ethics, but liberties need protection through legislation. Without it, ethics strives hard to grow as a creative source of the norms by which multiple forms of moral judgement are formulated. In this era of post-truth and strategic production of lies and political hatred, the effect on political subjects suggests psychological, educational and above all economic want. Faced with this scenario, it is important to reconsider how truth has been sidelined as a filter of discourses and political orientations produced by ethics. The task we put to philosophy is to extend the conceptual and discursive power of bioethics so as to contemplate forms of subjectivity in rupture with a State structure that is a producer of injustice. As such, we critically analyze the proposal of a bioethics of truths as a separating filter in Alain Badiou’s system, in which the relation between ontology, phenomenology and the historical conditions of truth production are reorganized.
