Abstract

This paper presents the concept of liberty in Henrique Cláudio de Lima Vaz’s philosophical anthropology. Affirming that his anthropology is personalistic, Lima Vaz establishes, dialeticly, the manner that the subject, while free and rational being, can realize himself as person. Looking to the problematic from the modern view of liberty, the emphasis will be on the liberty as an essential aspect of the unitary constitution of the person. This constitution is the profound and total act of the human essence. On the light of the Lima Vaz’s philosophical anthropology, this paper will demonstrate that the liberty the goodness that must conduct the human being on the task and challenge of realizing himself as person.
