Abstract

The pedagogical process is, as the etymology of the word suggests, a path to be traveled together. The educational process goes through different periods of history and faces the challenge of combining different perspectives and experiences. In this scenario, the relationship between educator and student needs to be constantly reviewed and reformulated. Reading the current period of history in a hypermodern key, as Gilles Lipovetsky suggests, the challenge is to deal with technologies without forgetting the endless search for the human and the meaning of life. The quest to overcome existential illiteracy, which keeps the subject alienated from himself, needs to make use of a pedagogy that promotes encounter, bearing in mind an integral humanism and, with it, the Benedictine principle ora et labora.
